Where does your information come from?
For branded foods, the nutritional information comes from the USDA’s food information database.
Our daily values come from the values set by the Food Nutrition Board, which are the same daily values used in most nutritional labels. The 2,000 calorie diet that most brands use as a reference point is just one population group, the Food Nutrition Board also has standard daily values for all age groups.

Is the app free?
Yes! It is free to create an account and start scanning today. Please note that free accounts are limited to 20 scans—if you would like to scan more, explore our Member subscription.
What is the member subscription?
Our member subscription allows users an unlimited number of scans and to search our database of >1 million items, including unprocessed foods. The price is $15 for an annual subscription.
There are other food scanner apps out there. What makes ChewChew different?
There are other food scanner apps out there, such as Yuka and Bobby Approved. However, ChewChew is the only app made specifically for parents, with the unique nutritional needs of little ones. ChewChew also has a database of whole, unprocessed foods, while other apps focus only on branded foods.

My scanner doesn’t work? What do I do?
First, check that you’ve enable camera permissions for the app and that you have an internet or data connection. If you have confirmed access and are still experiencing issues, please contact us at contact@chewchewapp.com.
Does the app work offline?
Not at this time, but it’s on our roadmap of future developments!
How do I cancel the annual renewal?
If you’d like to cancel your subscription, you can cancel through the app. You will still keep premium membership benefits until the next renewal date.
